"The Art of the Quilt" Marks 7th Year at Piedmont Arts
November 13 through December 30, 2010 quilt artists from across the Southeast will exhibit their work in the Piedmont Arts galleries as part of "The Seventh Biennial Invitational Quilt Exhibit: The Art of the Quilt". This year's exhibit is themed "Blue Ridge" in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hand and machine stitched quilts, traditional textiles, clothing and accessories and quilt art will be on display as part of this exhibit, which was curated by master quilter, Linda M. Fiedler.
Fiedler is an award-winning quilt maker from Meadows of Dan, Virginia. Her quilts have won national and international awards and her quilted clothing has appeared in such prestigious shows as the Fairfield Fashion Show and the Hobb’s Fashion Show in Paducah, Kentucky. Fielder's quilts hang in private and corporate collections throughout the country.
Quilts by local and regional artists will also be on display in Piedmont Arts' Lynwood Artists Gallery from November 13 through December 30, 2010 as part of "Works by the Virginia Foothills Quilters Guild", a biennial exhibit curated by the Virginia Foothills Quilters Guild.
The Virginia Foothills Quilters Guild, a Piedmont Arts Community Partner, is an organization formed to create, stimulate, maintain and report an interest in all matters pertaining to the making, collecting and preserving of quilts and to establish and promote educational endeavors through quilts and quilting. The Virginia Foothills Quilters Guild welcomes all who are interested in quilting.
