Jane Franklin Dance at Carlisle School

On Friday, Piedmont Arts presented a performance and dance workshop by Jane Franklin Dance for students at Carlisle School. The dance company performed excerpts from several dances, including “The Mouse of Amherst,” “A Vivid Sense of Place” and “The 50s Front” for the entire student body. After the performance, Carlisle’s dance and drama students took part in a dance workshop, where the company taught students to explore creative movement through collaboration with their fellow dancers.

Jane Franklin Dance is a modern dance company based in Arlington, Virginia. Their performances are blend of dance, theater and humor. The company’s workshops integrate dance into the community and provide young people with opportunities to express themselves - and perhaps find their passion in the performing arts.

This program is organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Office of Statewide Partnerships and is supported by the Paul Mellon Endowment. This performance is partially supported by a grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
