Literary Humorist to Speak on Life and Works of F. Scott Fitzgerald

F. Scott Fitzgerald

Popular literary humorist Dr. Elliot Engel will speak about the life and works of the celebrated author of the "The Great Gatsby," in The Rise and Fall of the Great F. Scott Fitzgerald at Piedmont Arts on Oct. 11.

Called one of the greatest American authors of the 20th Century, Fitzgerald authored four novels in his lifetime. Though he garnered much critical acclaim for his writing, his personal life was riddled with struggles compounded by alcoholism and the mental illness of his wife, Zelda.

Dr. Engel, a scholar and storyteller known for his enthusiasm and wit, will provide guests with an in-depth look at how Fitzgerald's turbulent life and brilliant novels perfectly captured the sensation and sadness of the Jazz Age.

The Rise and Fall of the Great F. Scott Fitzgerald will begin at 7 pm in the Piedmont Arts galleries. An optional catered dinner will be held before the lecture, beginning at 6 pm. Limited tickets are available for this event.
