Piedmont Arts Announces New Staff Appointments

Piedmont Arts is pleased to announce new staff appointments that will help the museum maximize its resources in an efficient and effective manner.

“These new appointments help Piedmont Arts focus on achieving our mission in the community, while allowing us to develop our existing staff and provide opportunities for growth,” said Executive Director Kathy Rogers. “As always, the Piedmont Arts staff and the board of directors remain focused on bringing quality visual and performing arts to the community with a commitment to excellence.”

Heidi Pinkston has been promoted to Director of Exhibitions. Previously, Pinkston served as Piedmont Arts’ Education Coordinator, a part-time position overseeing the museum’s educational outreach programming both on- and off-site. In her new position, Pinkston will oversee the museum’s exhibition schedule and the development of exhibitions. She will also develop on-site educational outreach programming, including school tours, preschool programs, Family Days and the museum’s Summer Art Camp. Pinkston has been employed by Piedmont Arts since July 2004 and holds a degree in Community Arts Management from East Carolina University.

Bernadette Moore has been named Director of Marketing, Communications and Design. Formerly the Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Moore’s new title reflects her work overseeing the museum’s communications plan, including maintaining the museum’s online presence through the Piedmont Arts website and social networking sites, and overseeing the museum’s design standards, including the design of all publications and brand management. In addition to these duties, Moore will work with the Director of Exhibitions on exhibition design and curatorial affairs. She will also manage Studio 107 Artist Studios for Piedmont Arts in Uptown, the museum’s satellite gallery at Memorial Hospital and the museum’s public art program. Moore has been employed by Piedmont Arts since October 2006 and has a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University with a concentration in Painting and Printmaking.

Barbara Parker, Director of Programs, will take on the additional duties of developing in-school programming, including scheduling visiting artists and performers. Parker has worked for Piedmont Arts since January 1998. She has a BA in Communication Arts from Austin College and post-graduate work in costume design at the University of Texas in Austin. Before joining Piedmont Arts, she served as In-school Programming Director for the Surry Arts Council in Mount Airy, NC.

Barbara Bradshaw has been named Manager of Guest Services. Bradshaw previously held the title of Administrative Assistant and Facility Rental Manager. Her new title better reflects her role of welcoming and assisting guests during their visits to Piedmont Arts. Her previous duties, including membership database management and facility rental, will remain the same. Bradshaw has been with Piedmont Arts since June 2001.
