Museum Appoints New Board Members

On July 1, 2015, Piedmont Arts welcomed eight new members to its Board of Directors.

New Board members,  who will each serve a four-year term, include: Courtney Armstrong, attorney with the law firm of Armstrong & Armstrong; Masha Edelen, owner of HD Web Studio; Nancy Galli, founder of Nancy’s Candy Company; Will Gravely, self-employed home furnishings sales executive; Paul Huckfeldt, Corporate Controller for Hooker Furniture Corporation; Jane Johnson, Pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church; Joyce Staples, English professor at Patrick Henry Community College; and Gayatri Titus, PhD, Marriage and Family Therapy.

“We are delighted with the wealth of knowledge, talent and enthusiasm for Piedmont Arts and its mission that these board members bring to the museum,” says Executive Director Kathy Rogers. “Along with our returning Board members, they all bring something new to the table, which bodes well for Piedmont Arts in the upcoming year.”

Continuing on the Board will be: Charles Byrd, administrator for Henry County Public Schools; Nancy Davis, retired Human Resources administrator; Judy Hodge, retired music teacher; Janet Hudgins, artist; Bill Lantz, plant engineer for RTI; Lauren Prince, community volunteer; James Rountree, retired educator; Ellen Wood, retired banker; and Danny Wulff, owner/operator, Chick-fil-A.

In addition to the above, the following will serve as officers in the upcoming fiscal year: Kim Buck, Community Development Coordinator for Patrick Henry Community College, will serve as Board President; Dr. Jared Cotton, Superintendent of Henry County Public Schools, 1st Vice President; Dr. Barry Dorsey, Education Consultant, 2nd Vice President; Paul Huckfeldt of Hooker Furniture, Treasurer; Aaron Rawls, Program Manager for University of Phoenix, Secretary; and Dr. Joan Montgomery, Retired Educator, Immediate Past President.

At its June 9 Board meeting, Piedmont Arts also recognized those Board members who were leaving the Board: Ronald Hairston, Piedmont Community Services; Anne Jacobsen, Hooker Furniture; Dr. David Martin, retired school superintendent; Cathy Philips, community volunteer; Linda Reynolds, retired educator; and David Stone, owner of Solid Stone Fabrics.
