Will Gravely, “Postmaster” of Piedmont Arts’ historic Little Post Office was honored with the installation of a commemorative bench on the grounds of the Little Post Office on Friday.

Gravely, a member of Martinsville High School’s Class of 1968, was honored by his classmates for his tireless support of the Martinsville community.

The granite bench, engraved “Presented April 2016 to William J. Gravely with Love and Gratitude, MAVAHI Class of 1968,” also serves as the first addition to Piedmont Arts’ Public Art Garden, which will be located adjacent to the Little Post Office, on the corner of Mulberry Road and Starling Avenue.

“When Steve Draper and Will’s classmates asked if they could donate a bench for the garden in Will’s honor, we were very excited,” said Piedmont Arts Executive Director Kathy Rogers. “It is a lovely addition to the grounds and is a fitting tribute to Will’s dedication to his hometown and to his tireless efforts at the Little Post Office.”
