Savory September Celebrates Food and Culture of India

Tickets on sale for Indian-themed fundraiser at Piedmont Arts

Tickets are now on sale for Savory September, Piedmont Arts’ annual party and fundraiser for the arts

This year’s event will celebrate the food and culture of India on Friday, September 9 from 7 – 10 pm at the museum.

Over a dozen local chefs will prepare and serve heavy hors d’oeuvres with an Indian theme. Guests can also enjoy a cash bar featuring Indian beer and mango mojitos.

“Indian food is a celebration of aromatic spices, a plethora of flavors and multiple textures,” said Gayatri Titus, a Piedmont Arts Board member and chair of the committee planning the event. “So, when you eat Indian food it’s like you are embarking on a journey; You travel to different Indian states and cities. Each food prepared by our talented chefs will offer its own concoctions of aromas, spices, flavors and textures. We invite everyone to come join us on this journey and sample some gastronomic delights of India. Namaste.”

While savoring the tastes of India, guests can also take part in traditional Indian dancing and have their photos made in the Savory September photo booth.

There are also more ways to support the arts, like participating in the 50/50 raffle or bidding on authentic Indian items in the silent auction.

“In the past, our 50/50 raffles have raised thousands of dollars,” said Piedmont Arts Executive Director Kathy Rogers. “It’s a great way to raise money for the museum and reward one lucky community member for their support of the arts in MHC.”

50/50 raffle tickets are $10 each or $50 for 6. Raffle tickets can be purchased in advance at Piedmont Arts, located at 215 Starling Avenue, or at the museum on the night of the event.

Admission tickets to Savory September are $25 each and include one complimentary drink per ticket. Tickets are on sale now at Piedmont Arts, by calling 276.632.3221  and online here.
