The Art of the Quilt Closing Dec. 31

Quilt exhibits open during holidays

Saturday, Dec. 31 is the last day to view The Art of the Quilt: Let’s Celebrate at Piedmont Arts.

Forty artists from across the Southeast have work on display in this fiber arts showcase curated by master quilter Linda Fiedler that features hand- and machine-stitched quilts, traditional textiles, clothing, accessories and quilt art.

Fiedler is an award-winning quilt maker from Meadows of Dan, Va. Her quilts have won national and international awards and her quilted clothing has appeared in such prestigious shows as the Fairfield Fashion Show and the Hobb’s Fashion Show in Paducah, Ky. Fiedler’s quilts also hang in private and corporate collections throughout the country.

Also closing Dec. 31 is an exhibit featuring work by members of Martinsville’s Virginia Foothills Quilters Guild.

“Piedmont Arts will be open during the holidays and we hope you will bring your family and friends to view this amazing exhibition of quilts,” said Piedmont Arts Director of Exhibitions Heidi Pinkston. “Quilts hold fond memories for so many of us; it’s truly a joy to see so many master-level quilts in a gallery setting.”

Piedmont Arts is located at 215 Starling Ave. Admission to the museum is always free of charge. Regular museum hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10 am – 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am – 3 pm.
