Piedmont Arts Named "Best Art Gallery" in Southwest Virginia
Piedmont Arts wins First Place in
Virginia Living’s Best of Virginia 2017
Piedmont Arts has been voted Best Art Gallery in Virginia Living’s sixth annual Best of Virginia issue.
Expressions, Lynwood Artists’ and Piedmont Arts’ annual open-entry exhibition which is currently on display at the museum through July 21, also won third place in the Best Art Event category.
“It’s really an honor to be voted Best Art Gallery by members of our community,” said Director of Marketing, Communications and Design Bernadette Moore. “We are in good company, too. Many local businesses won awards in this prestigious competition. It really speaks to the hard work of business owners and the amazing community spirit in Martinsville-Henry County. We are proud to be a part of our community.”
Best of Virginia 2017 lists more than 1,500 winners from the magazine's annual Best of Virginia Readers’ Survey, conducted in January. More than 50,000 ballots were cast in 106 categories.
This year’s issue takes a special look at the ways Virginians express our state’s unique style—through fashion, but also in the way we live and the traditions we cherish. Alongside the winners are stories about designers, tastemakers, shopping districts, resorts and art galleries, including a feature on Piedmont Arts' new R.P. Gravely-A.J. Lester Art Garden.
“We’re so pleased that the Art Garden is getting state-wide attention,” said Moore. “Piedmont Arts staff, artists, volunteers and the City of Martinsville have worked hard to make the Art Garden a true destination for visitors and residents. We hope everyone will continue to enjoy all the Art Garden brings to the community—amazing artwork, a beautiful landscape and a place to enjoy art and nature in the heart of the Arts & Cultural District.”
