Art @ Happy Hour Explores Art of the American Indian

Free happy hour event at Piedmont Arts, Oct. 12

Enjoy drinks and light snacks while exploring the galleries during Piedmont Arts’ free Art @ Happy Hour on Thursday, October 12 from 5 – 7 pm.

Director of Exhibitions Heidi Pinkston will be on hand to discuss the exhibits and answer questions. Indigenous: The Art of the American Indian and Opposite of Left: Two Generations of Visual Interpretations will be on display.

“Art @ Happy Hour is a fun way to experience Piedmont Arts exhibits,” said Pinkston. “The event is low-key and casual, encouraging guests to view the work up close, ask questions, make comments and learn more about the art on display.”

Indigenous is a major exhibition highlighting American Indian art never before seen by our community. The exhibition honors the culture, history and art of several American Indian tribes, including the Cherokee, Haliwa-Saponi and Piscataway, among others.

Opposite of Left features mixed media paintings and sculptures by Martinsville natives Mark Wright and Brad Wright.

Both exhibits will be on display through October 14.

Piedmont Arts exhibits are always admission free. Museum hours are Tuesday – Friday: 10 am – 5 pm and Saturday: 10 am – 3 pm. For more information, visit PiedmontArts.org.
