Heidi Pinkston Appointed New Executive Director
The Piedmont Arts Board of Directors announced today the appointment of Heidi Pinkston as the museum’s new executive director.
Pinkston has been with Piedmont Arts for more than a decade and has worked in all areas of the museum, including serving as director of exhibitions before her appointment as interim executive director following the departure of former executive director Kathy Rogers in October 2017.
“I am pleased the Board of Directors selected Heidi as executive director,” said Board President Joyce Staples. “She brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise in arts education. She has worked with the Board, knows the museum’s members and has rapport with our community shareholders. I feel Heidi will continue to advance Piedmont Arts’ mission to provide visual arts, performing arts and arts education to the citizens of Martinsville-Henry County and the surrounding areas.”
Pinkston says she is honored to accept the position of executive director. “I take the responsibility very seriously and understand the importance of the museum to our community. I look forward to bringing quality arts to the community with the help and support of the Board of Directors and our talented staff. With everyone’s involvement, we can reach the next level of amazing things at Piedmont Arts.”
Pinkston earned a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Administration from East Carolina University. She has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Virginia Commission for the Arts Arts in Education Awards Grant Committee, the Martinsville City Public School Endowment Board and the Harvest Foundation Strategic Planning for a Positive Youth Development Community Action Committee.
