Art Scholarship Applications Due May 4, 2018



Piedmont Arts is now accepting applications for the Nicodemus Hufford Memorial Arts Scholarship and the Harold Knowlton Work Memorial Scholarship. These scholarships provide funds for students from Martinsville-Henry County to pursue an education in the visual or performing arts at an accredited four-year institution.

Nicodemus Hufford Memorial Arts Scholarship
Named in honor of famed portrait artist Nick Hufford, the Hufford Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors who are residents of Martinsville or Henry County or who attend a school located in Martinsville or Henry County and who plan to pursue a degree in the visual or performing arts at an accredited four-year institution.

Hufford scholarships of up to $1,000 are available. Applicants are required to attend a personal interview with Piedmont Arts’ Scholarship Committee on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Piedmont Arts.

Hufford Scholarship applications are due at Piedmont Arts by Friday, May 4, 2018.

Harold Knowlton Work Memorial Scholarship
The Work Scholarship is available to rising college sophomores, juniors and seniors who graduated from a high school in Martinsville or Henry County and are currently pursuing a degree in the visual or performing arts at an accredited four-year institution.

This scholarship is funded annually through the Harold Knowlton Work Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was established by Mr. Work's wife, Julia Ascough Work, to continue higher education studies in the arts. This generous memorial scholarship ensures that Howard and Julia's lifelong passion and respect for education and the arts continues through the support of artists of future generations. 


Work scholarships of up to $2,500 are available. Applicants are required to attend a personal interview and audition with the Piedmont Arts’ Scholarship Committee on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Piedmont Arts.

Work Scholarship applications are due at Piedmont Arts by Friday, May 4, 2018.
