Exhibits Closing April 28 at Piedmont Arts
Piedmont Arts’ current exhibits, Acuarelas en Gran Formato, featuring large-scale abstract paintings by Javier Tapia and Art 180, an installation aimed at reforming the juvenile justice system, will come to a close on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Make plans to visit the museum before they are gone.
“We’ve had a great reception to these exhibits,” said Director of Marketing, Communications and Design Bernadette Moore. “Javier’s large-scale watercolors really brighten up the galleries and ART 180’s installation on the juvenile justice system has been popular with educators and tour groups from across the state, including the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice.”
In addition to these exhibits, work by local artist Donna Koger; Second Chances, featuring work by trustees from Martinsville City Jail; and PhotoVoice, featuring photographs by students participating in CHILL MHC are also on display.
In honor of the closing of these exhibits, Piedmont Arts will host Art @ Happy Hour on Thursday, April 26 from 5 – 7 pm at the museum. Javier Tapia will lead a gallery talk from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. Complimentary refreshments and an open bar will be available during the event.
“Art @ Happy Hour is free and open to everyone,” said Moore. “It provides a great chance for guests to get an up close look at the exhibits, to meet the artists and to learn about their creative process.”
Piedmont Arts hours this week are Thursday from 10 am to 5 pm; Friday from 10 am to 7 pm; and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. Admission is free of charge.
