Folk Tales Family Day Celebrates Art of Storytelling at Piedmont Arts

Join Piedmont Arts for a free Family Day celebrating American folk tales with live performances by Jack Tale Storytellers, crafts and snacks on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 11 am – 1 pm at the museum.

“Folk Tales Family Day is a free, fun event for all ages,” said Education Coordinator Becki Williams Vasquez. “Parents, grandparents and kids will delight in the hijinks of ‘Jack’ as the Jack Tale Storytellers bring the magic of these Appalachian folk tales to life.”

Jack Tale Players

Jack Tale Storytellers will perform at 11:15 am and 12:15 pm. Presenting entertaining and educational plays with traditional music and stories of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Jack Tale Storytellers entertain young and old with fast-paced action, energetic acting, innovative staging and foot-stomping music.

Free crafts include creating a construction paper quilt square and painting a dried gourd. Award-winning artist and farrier Jessie Ward will also be on-site to hand-stamp customized horseshoes. Horseshoes can be stamped with names or dates and cost $7 each.

Complimentary snacks will be provided. All ages are welcome and admission is free of charge.
