"An Evening with Maestro David Stewart Wiley" Brings Classics by Gershwin, Rachmaninoff to Galleries


Enjoy an intimate concert with Maestro David Stewart Wiley of Roanoke Symphony Orchestra in the Piedmont Arts galleries on Thursday, March 28, 2019.

Wiley will perform piano selections by Gershwin and Rachmaninoff, as well as his own original compositions.

“This is a great opportunity to experience the magic of Roanoke Symphony up close and personal,” said Executive Director Heidi Pinkston. “We are honored to bring the full orchestra to Martinsville every year for our Holiday Pops concert, but this event offers guests the chance to experience an intimate concert with their famed conductor.”

Wiley, Roanoke’s beloved Maestro and world traveler is also an engaged and active community partner and celebrity, having been named Roanoke’s “Citizen of the Year” for his outstanding service and outreach in Virginia and beyond. A renowned talent, Wiley has conducted such distinguished symphonies as Atlanta, Buffalo, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Minnesota, Saint Louis, Oregon, Honolulu, and Utah, and will make his Boston Pops conducting debut at Symphony Hall, Boston on May 17, 2019. Under his musical direction, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra has experienced remarkable artistic growth, innovation, and regional impact. As a composer, conductor, and pianist, Wiley's music has taken him to dozens of countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe including Italy, Germany, Slovakia, China, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy and the Czech Republic. Wiley also serves as Conductor of the Long Island Orchestra in New York.

Guests can enjoy cocktails and small bites at 6:30 pm. The concert will begin at 7 pm.
