Free Family Encaustic Art Day, Aug. 17
Join Piedmont Arts for a free Family Day exploring encaustic art on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 11 am – 1 pm at the museum.
“Encaustic Art Family Day is a free event for all ages,” said Education Coordinator Becki Williams Vasquez.“Encaustic is painting with pigmented hot wax. It creates a beautifully textured surface and will provide a fun new experience for guests.”
Inspired by the museum's current exhibits, FLASHPOINTS : Material : Intent : Fused and Parts2, which feature encaustic artwork, kids can create encaustic paintings, sun prints and marble paintings using shaving cream. Guests may also enjoy free self-guided tours of the exhibits, including a scavenger hunt through the galleries.
Complimentary snacks will be provided. All ages are welcome and admission is free of charge.
