Piedmont Arts Hosts Second Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Art Garden

"Light Art" tree by Ian Hogg to illuminate Art Garden during holidays

For the second year, Piedmont Arts will host a Christmas tree lighting in the Gravely-Lester Art Garden. Join the museum for crafts, hot cider and live music by the Martinsville High School Jazz Band on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 5 pm.

Just like the sculptures in its Art Garden, the museum’s Christmas tree will be a work of art. Created by Ian Hogg using 3,000 lights, the tree will be lit at sunset on December 5 and brighten the Art Garden through New Year’s Day.

“The Christmas tree will be a real show-stopper,” said Marketing and Programs Coordinator Holly Burton. “Ian has generously donated his time and prowess to create a real work of art. We hope the tree brings joy to the community throughout the holiday season.”

During the event, kids can create Christmas ornaments to take home and Santa Claus, the jolly old elf himself, will make an appearance. Complimentary snacks and hot cider will be available. All are welcome. Admission is free.

This event is sponsored by Martinizing Dry Cleaning and Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce.
