Savory September Celebrates “50 Years of LOVE”


Piedmont Arts annual fundraiser, Savory September: 50 Years of LOVE, will flash back to 1969 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Commonwealth's slogan, “Virginia is for Lovers.”

This groovy party for the arts will also celebrate the foods that Virginia made famous by featuring Virginia-themed dishes by local chefs, creative cocktails and an open bar. Themed attire is encouraged, but not required.

“Piedmont Arts hosts Savory September every fall and this year’s theme is sure to make for a fun time and great food,” said Executive Director Heidi Pinkston. “Everyone know’s Virginia’s slogan, ‘Virginia is for Lovers’, and Savory September is a fun way to celebrate the Commonwealth while supporting the arts and sampling delicious dishes by our local chefs.”

In addition to the party, guests can win major prizes in the museum’s biggest raffle to date. Raffle tickets are $10 each or $50 for six (one free). Raffle tickets are available at Piedmont Arts leading up to and during the event.

Raffle prizes include:

  • Two VIP Rooster Walk 12 Passes – Festival May 21 – 25, 2020 at Pop’s Farm
  • Custom Pet or Home Portrait by Karen Despot – 11 in. x 14 in. watercolor painting
  • Party for 50 at One Starling – Includes overnight stay (sleeps nine)
  • Hamlet Vineyard Package – Sunday lunch for four with two bottles of wine

Tickets to Savory September: 50 Years of LOVE are $40 each and include admission, food and bar. Tickets are on sale now at Piedmont Arts and online at here. Proceeds benefit the arts in Martinsville-Henry County.
